ABSTRACT:
Objective: An improved reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatographic (RP-HPLC) method has been developed and validated for the estimation of Favipiravir from pharmaceutical dosage form. Method: Chromatographic separation was performed on RP-C18 column. The optimized mobile phase (acetonitrile: water of pH 4.8 adjusted with glacial acetic acid) was pumped at a flow rate of 0.8ml/min in the ratio of 35:65% v/ v and the eluent was monitored at 245nm. Results: The assay was performed with tablet dosage form and % of assay was found 101.21% w/w of Favipravir. Linearity was ascertained over the concentration range 1-12µg/ml. The method was statistically validated and found SD; RSD was within acceptable limit, indicated high degree of accuracy and precision of the proposed RP-HPLC method. Conclusion: Due to its simplicity, rapidness, high precision and accuracy the proposed RP-HPLC method can be applied for determination of Favipiravir in routine quality control tests of dosage form.
